As a member of the Specialist Advisory Team, you will be providing customer focused, specialist advice on a range of issues relating to managing the councils Air quality management areas and Environmental permitting, with a particular emphasis on detailed knowledge and understanding of EU, national and local environmental legislation and guidance related to air quality and a thorough understanding of air quality assessments. Providing environmental planning guidance and legislation and a clear understanding of the duties and powers this legislation places on the department.

In addition, you will administrate the delivery and ongoing development of key projects, such as the implementation a new Air quality monitoring station, the councils Air quality strategy and an ongoing anti idling project, as well as dealing with customer complaints and enquiries on a day to day basis. You may also be required to represent the council at various meetings and committees.

 You will be expected to provide guidance, mentoring and support to Case Workers, Neighbourhood Advisors and Customer Advisors as required.

With relevant industry experience, you will have an up to date knowledge of contract management. You will have excellent management and communication skills and be able to work on your own initiative. You will have the skills required to effectively network, consult and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders, including contractors, Cllrs and external partners. You will have experience of budget management, statistical reporting, and working under pressure and meeting targets. You will be passionate about the environment and sustainability issues with the ability to grasp complex legislation and the capacity to explain, apply and monitor such legislation. You will have excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills and strong IT and administrative skills.
