Eastbourne Borough and Lewes District Councils

About the role

We work in a rich planning environment across two varied authorities, and this is an exciting time to be joining us as we take the Lewes Local Plan through the final stages of the plan making process, and develop a set of plans and strategies for the Eastbourne borough.

Both Councils are developing their local development plans, which will be underpinned by spatial data. This post supports our function as planning authorities and wider corporate activity by the capture, maintenance, analysis, and management of spatial data. This role is central to our planning service using geographical information system (GIS) software to support the development of digital solutions. It is an important role in a world where spatial data fuels decisions.

About you

You will need to be self-motivated, have a keen eye for detail, and be highly organised. The role will be central to our data analysis and data management processes and systems. You will expand our capacity and maximise growth in the usage of spatial data and the innovative application of GIS to support service delivery.

You should be capable of digitising to the GIS industry standards and have experience in a technical or data driven role. With proven knowledge in specialised software package, particularly those associated with the ESRI product suite and the skills for using the IDOX Uniform system, you will support our increasingly digital service delivery.

Your communication skills must include an ability to interact with business as well as technical teams. You will be required to be capable of listening to what service users want, and confident in advising.

You should have the ability to travel as this may be required.
