We are looking for a candidate with private sector housing experience to join our Housing Needs and Standards team as Specialist Advisor (Private Housing).
In Homes First we provide a range of Housing Services across two Local Authority areas. Within the Housing Needs and Standards service we are committed to raising the standards of accommodation, locally.
We have a vacancy in our team for a Specialist Advisor with a focus on private sector housing. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the implementation and enforcement of legislation in relation to private sector housing, specifically dealing with complaints, working closely with landlords, and licensing of HMO’s.
A significant part of the role is the specialized job of delivering our Disabled Facilities Grant programme. You will process formal applications, including the analysis of building schedules, liaising with relevant health professionals and most importantly be able to communicate efficiently and effectively with the grant applicants
You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, have a practical outlook and show initiative. Experience and qualifications are required in Environmental Health and/or in private sector housing enforcement. The successful candidate will be a strong team player with unflagging enthusiasm and genuine commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
